Beach Camping – Amelia Island

Sunset and sunrise….

My journey to Overland Expo East 2017 started with an amazing night of beach camping on Amelia Island in the northeast corner of Florida. Amelia Island was the exact mid point for my 12+ hour drive from Miami, FL to Asheville, NC and a much needed way to break up the long drive. The weather was absolutely perfect with a nice breeze and a spectacular sunset and sunrise. Camp was set up very quickly after closing the right spot to park the Land Rover. My trusty Ace Hardware shovel combined with Traction Jacks, made quick work to level out the LR3…giving me a nice level surface to cook and sleep on. After a great nights sleep I woke up with plenty of time to capture the sunrise in all its glory while enjoying a pre-dawn swim before breakfast.
