Charactor Bio: Lee Dahlberg
Where is your hometown?
From Amelia Island, FL
Living in East Hollywood, FL 18years
Looking back to all the vehicles you have owned in your lifetime, which one is/was your favorite?
Honestly my garage is currently filled with my all time 3 favorites:
1986 560SL Mercedes convertible
Completely restored
2014 Toyota Tundra 1794 edition
Lifted, Roll-n-Lock bed cover & blacked out custom front end
1986 Hydrostream Vector speedboat
Blacked out, 125HP Mercury, custom interior & sound system.
If money and time was no object, what would be your dream vehicle be and why?
1950 Mercury
I love the mean front end of that car. I’d want the outside to look rough, years of rust & patina under a clear coat. But the interior, engine & frame based on a modern LS-1 system. I hate worried about the outside of my vehicles. I’d rather the interior & the performance be a cool surprise.
Are you currently working on any projects?
All 3 of my vehicles are in a constant flow of change, I like them to reflect my personality. I like the challenge of morphing them into a reflection of me.
Outside of cars and tinkering, whats your favorite hobby?
I own a custom furniture shop called YouSonofaBench where I take reclaimed & found materials & craft them into art & furniture.
What is the one tool in your garage that you couldn’t live without?
Weirdly I find sanding to be soothing & rewarding. The hum of the sander, the ability to shape as well as smooth pieces is where I can really begin to see a piece take shape.
The world is changing every day, what is the thing you miss most about old school, non technological times?
I love technology but as it makes the world a smaller place I think it sometimes inhibits more human interaction. Where we used to rely on our neighbors to lend a hand or give advice, we now just google answers. There are conversations and interactions lost that are important to a guy that grew up in a small town.
If you could take an overland or oversea adventure anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
With my career I’ve be lucky enough to travel quite a bit. I’d love to go back through Asia. I fell in love with the people, the food, the culture & the views. Thailand, Korea & Japan will stay with me forever.
And last but not least, what makes you a “Charactor”
