Overland Bound, Southeast Meetup in Ocala
Overland Bound…
Over the past couple years the Overland scene in the US has been exploding. Fueling the fire has been an amazing online community built around the Overland Bound website and YouTube channel. For at least a year or more before joining, I myself followed along the advancements of the website and watched many of the YouTube videos produced by Overland Bound. It has connected people from all across the globe who have similar interests in vehicle based travel, the great outdoors and camping. With the explosion of interest about Overlanding and a growing member base on the Overland Bound website, it was only natural to separate the members based on their geographic location. This undoubtedly will make it easier for members to meet and interact with other members in their respective regions with the end goal of getting more people to explore the great outdoors. The motto, mantra or mission statement (whatever you want to call it) of Overland Bound is to “outfit and explore” and I couldn’t agree more! To “outfit” is to take a stock rig and modify it for offroad use (and/or camping purposes) without worrying about “what you drive”. If you think about it, it really doesn’t matter what you drive as long as you have the ability and ambition to “explore”.
After the launch of the Overland Bound regions back in March/April, 2017 various people starting linking up and attempting to organize the first meet up for the Southeast Region. The meet up was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7 in Ocala National Forest. Working in the bar business I wasn’t able to make it on Saturday but hoped to roll out early Sunday morning from Miami to catch the tail end of the meet up in Ocala. My co-pilots on this trip were my brother in law Luis and his step brother Marlon…here are some pictures of our 36 hour trip from Miami, FL to Ocala National Forest:
